The summer drink and foodie benefit events continue through July and turn up the heat with even more flavor and flare. Meat lovers will especially rejoice on July 23 with two Brooklyn events benefiting great organizations–the Food Bank for New York City, Slow Food USA, and the Armed Forces Foundation.
Tuesday 7/19
Sunset Soiree:There’s no place more perfect to spend a summer evening than atop the rooftop lounge at Hudson Terrace. Join WGIRLS NYC for Sunset on the Hudson from 7pm-11pm with highlights including an open bar from 7pm-8pm, live entertainment by DJ Salducci, and a chance to win a bottle of wine from the wine pull. The WGIRLS provide support to underprivileged women and children across the United States and United Kingdom and globally in times of international crisis. The event will benefit Sunrise Day Camp, the only dedicated day camp in the country for children with cancer. Tickets are $30 each or four for $100.

The Great Hot Dog Cookoff: Enjoy the ultimate hot dog showdown where 24 chefs prepare their best dog for the judges and the crowd. This year’s cook-off is at Kelso Brewery in Clinton Hill and benefits the Food Bank for New York City. Be brave as you try dogs with unique topping combinations. Past winners have used deep fried pickle chips, pineapple slaw, English bacon, and shallots. Tickets are $45 and available online here.

Meatopia:Join farmers and more than 45 chefs from all over the United States in a celebration of all things meat. Whether you’re eying the Colorado lamb, Peking duck, or Blank Angus beef, you’ll be sure to have a heavenly experience. The event is being presented by Whole Foods at Pier 4 in Brooklyn Bridge Park from 5:30pm-9:30pm. Meatopia will also feature live music with some proceeds going to Slow Food USA and the Armed Forces Foundation. Tickets are $85 per adult for unlimited tastings and $15 for children 11-15 for unlimited tastings. The Serious Eats All Star Sandwich Festival:Set off on the ferry to Governors Island and meet the sandwiches that are true celebrities to our favorite writers at Serious Eats. The lineup includes a turkey hero from Torrisi Fine Foods, lamb meatball sliders from Locanda Verde, house-smoked ham and cheese with pickled veggies from Gramery Tavern, meatball parm from Best Pizza, banh mi from Banh Mi Zon, falafel from Taim Mobile, and special sandwiches designed for the event from Salumeria Biellese and Sullivan Street Bakery. Top off your sandwich frenzy with a Maggie-Hoffman assembled beer fridge full of craft brew favorites, wines and ciders, and desserts from Big Gay Ice Cream Truck and People’s Pops. General admission includes all food and drinks for $65 (or $55 early) and $30 for children. The event will run from 12pm-4pm with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Edible Schoolyard New York City.
